Gameplay Terminology
Ace
When a single player eliminates all five opponents in a round.
Clutch
Successfully winning a round when you are the last player alive on your team, especially against multiple opponents.
Crosshair Placement
The practice of keeping your crosshair at head level where enemies are likely to appear, allowing for faster reaction shots.
Defuse Kit
An item that Counter-Terrorists can purchase to reduce bomb defusal time from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.
Entry Fragger
The player who enters a bombsite first to secure initial kills and create space for teammates.
Flick Shot
A quick, sudden mouse movement to quickly aim and shoot at an enemy who appears unexpectedly.
Game Sense
A player's overall awareness and intuition about what's happening in the game, including predicting enemy positions and strategies.
Lurker
A player who separates from the team to flank enemies or gather information on less-watched areas of the map.
Weapons & Equipment Terminology
AWP
A powerful bolt-action sniper rifle that can kill with a single shot to most parts of the body.
Drop
When a player gives a weapon to a teammate by dropping it on the ground.
Glock
The standard pistol for Terrorists in the pistol round.
Incendiary/Molotov
Fire grenades that create a burning area, denying access to a position for a short time.
One-Tap
Killing an enemy with a single bullet to the head, often with precise aim.
Pop Flash
A flashbang grenade thrown in a way that detonates immediately upon entering an enemy's field of view, giving them minimal time to react.
Spray Pattern
The recoil pattern that weapons follow when firing continuously, which players must learn to control for accurate shooting.
USP-S
The standard silenced pistol for Counter-Terrorists in the pistol round.
Economy Terminology
Eco Round
A round where a team saves money by purchasing minimal or no equipment, typically after losing previous rounds.
Force Buy
When a team spends most or all of their money on weapons and equipment despite not having enough for a full buy.
Full Buy
A round where players purchase their preferred primary weapons, armor, and grenades.
Half Buy
A partial investment in equipment, often involving cheaper rifles like the Galil or Famas instead of AK-47 or M4.
Loss Bonus
Additional money awarded to losing teams, increasing with consecutive round losses to help balance the game economy.
Pistol Round
The first round of each half where players can only afford pistols and limited equipment.
Save Round
A round where players deliberately avoid engaging enemies to preserve their weapons for the next round.
Skins & Trading Terminology
Float Value
A number between 0 and 1 that determines the wear level of a skin, with lower values indicating better condition.
Factory New
The highest quality condition for a skin with minimal wear (float value: 0.00-0.07).
Field-Tested
A medium quality condition for a skin with noticeable wear (float value: 0.15-0.38).
Pattern Index
A number that determines the exact appearance of a skin, especially important for items like Case Hardened or Doppler skins where pattern significantly affects value.
StatTrakā¢
A feature that tracks the number of kills made with a specific weapon, adding value to the skin.
Trade Hold
A waiting period before traded items can be further traded or sold on the marketplace.
Trade-Up Contract
A system that allows players to exchange ten skins of the same quality for one skin of the next highest quality.
Wear Rating
The visual classification of a skin's condition, ranging from Factory New to Battle-Scarred.
